St. Patrick's day and the first day of spring all in one week. Now all we need is the darn temperature to go up and the snow to melt.
May be a good idea to know "stuff" about St Patricks Day and the first day of spring.
As always, assignments and due dates are subject to changes and adjustments. I will try to update the blog as needed.
Chem-I (per 2,3,6)
Monday: Reviewing half-life problems. Starting Transmutation Problems. Several in class examples. No HW for Tuesday, but...... Quiz on Block Day on half-life and transmutation problems. Also due on block day will be the following: Read/SSS Section 25-3 in textbook and do problems 15 through 20 on page 813.
Tuesday: continuing transmutation problems. Doing a worksheet of practice problems. Note quiz and book assignment for block day.
Block Day: Assignment from 25-3 Due: Read/SSS Section 25-3 in textbook and do problems 15 through 20 on page 813. Quiz on half-life and transmutation. Finishing the Frontline documentary on Fukushima. HW due Friday will be described, but will be research having to do with current/future status of nuclear power in the US.
Friday: Starting topics of fission and nuclear power production.
Not sure if there will be any assignments for the weekend.
Chem-IA (per 7)
Monday: going over quiz from last Thursday. Begin covering fission and nuclear power (Keynote Unit 4). Assignment for Tuesday: Research the current status of nuclear power in US: what percentage of power comes from nukes? how many active nuclear power plants are currently in US? What is the status for any new nuclear plants?
Tuesday: Checking/sharing/reporting on research. Continuing with nuclear power, fission and fusion. Assigning Editorial for Friday.
Block day: Finishing unit (fusion???). Watching History Channel documentary on the Manhattan Project. Note: Editorial due Friday.
Friday: Editorials due. In class activity (to be graded): Town Meeting/Debate.
Note: Test on Radiation Unit next week. Either Tues or Thursday.
