Back at it after vacation. Hopefully we'll start turning the corner from winter to spring one of these weeks.
As usual, plans, assignments and due dates are subject to change.
Chem-I (per 2,3,6):
Monday: Assignment from Chapter 25 is, technically, due today, but I'm going to extend to Tuesday due to storm disruptions just before vacation. We will go over SubUnit Test on 3E.
Tuesday: Assignment from Chapt 25 and article is due. We will be starting the unit on radiation and nuclear chemistry with group activity and discussion and starting Keynote Unit 4. Homework for block day will be a pre-lab assignment.
Block Day: Pre-Lab Due. Continuing on radiation unit: electromagnetic radiation. We will be doing a lab activity on Density as a Group Trend (actually a lab from Unit 3) by collecting data.
Friday: Finishing lab reports and turning in. Continuing on radiation unit if time allows..
Chem-IA: (per 7)
Monday: Quick review of radiation unit to-date. Continuing unit with lessons on electromagnetic radiation and starting particle radiaton. HW for Tues: None????
Tuesday: Continue with particle radiation and decay rxns. (Demonstrations using Geiger counter if time allows). Homework: Pre-Lab and, probably, some book problems (TBA). See below for assignment due Monday from 25-2.
Thursday block: Pre-lab due. . We will be doing the same lab as per 2,3,6 which was a holdover from Unit 3. Due Friday: book problems on alpha and beta decay problems from page ____. NOTE: Due Monday: Read/SSS section 25-2 and do problems page 821 numbers 29, 30 and 33 through 40. Also, probable quiz on unit 4 to-date on Monday.
Friday: Book problems due on decays. Finishing and turning in lab report. NOTE: assignment from 25-2 due Monday and Quiz on Monday (see above).
Chem-II (per 1):
Monday: returning and going over test from Chapt 15 and 16. Working on the following assignment which is due on Tuesday: Read/SSS in Chapter 19, section 19-1 and do problems page 625 numbers 44 through 47.
Tuesday: Assignment from 19-1 due. Begin unit on Acids/Bases/Neutralizations (Chapters 19 and 20). General characteristics, review of names/formulas for acids and bases. Introduce classifications for acids and bases (Arrhenius, B-L, Lewis). HW: TBA
Wed Block: probably not ready for the next lab. Continuing Acid/Base classifications. . We'll probably stay busy with lots of in-class problems. No HW for friday.
Friday: Quick review of B-L acids/conjugate pairs. Covering pH and pOH with lots of examples and problems. Calculators needed. HW for Monday: TBA AND a probably quiz on Chapter 19 "stuff" to-date.
