Sorry about the delay in posting the blog for this week. To be honest, this week will be very "fluid" as I get the feel for understanding. Therefore, per usual..... any/all assignments/due dates/etc.... are very much subject to change and/or adjustment. Keep an eye on the assignment board.
Reminder that Friday will be shortened periods due to a Pep Rally.
Chem-I: per 2,3,6
Monday: went over midyear exam and introduced Electron Configurations (3 Rules: Aufbau, Pauli Exclusion, Hund's) and talked about buses. HW for Tuesday. NONE.
Tuesday: Quick Review of the three rules. Filling in Electron Configuration diagram with examples and, most importantly, learning the relationship to the periodic table.
Block Day: Filling in a fresh, new Electron Config Diagram. Learning how to use it with lots of examples. Bringing back Quantum Numbers for specific elements. We will be doing a worksheet of problems in class. NOTE ASSIGNMENT DUE MONDAY: Read/SSS section 6-1 and do questions on page 181 numbers 24 through 29. There will (probably) be a quiz on Friday on Electron Configs and Quantum Numbers.
Friday (shortened periods): Quiz. NOTE ASSIGNMENT FROM 6-1 due monday...see above.
Chem-IA (per 7)
Monday: we went over mid-year exam. Afterwards worked on assignment from 6-1 (due Tues).
Tuesday: Starting 3E on the periodic table: special terms/names related to per table, periodic table game, possibly starting Keynote 3E. NO HW FOR THURS.
Block Day: Continuing (or starting) Keynote 3E and transitioning into a lab activity. For Friday: Probably a quiz on 3 E to-date.
FRiday: probable quiz.
NOTE: there will be a Sub-Unit test on 3E next week (I think)
Chem-II: (per 1)
Monday: went over midterm. Working on graphing lab on Solub of KCl.
Tuesday: starting the mathematics of solutions: Percent Solutions with examples. Homework is to finish "worksheet 1" on percent solutions.
Block Day: reviewing percent solutions. Covering Molarity. Finishing Lab. Possibly covering dilutions. Doing Worksheet #2.
Friday: Possible Quiz on Solutions. (moved to Monday)
NOTE: Unit test next week (prob on Friday) on chapters 15 and 16.
