We are officially half way through the first quarter and about to start the month of October. Unit tests for both Chem-I and Chem-II this week. Note that it might be worthwhile to do a bit of historical research into major historical events that occurred in October of 1962 between the US and the former USSR over a certain Caribbean island country.
As always, assignments and due dates are subject to changes and adjustments.
Chem-I:
Monday, Sept 30: NO COW this week. Finishing "matter" with conservation of matter and it's application to chem rxns. Also finishing lab demo and lab write-up (note that conclusion questions 1 through 4 ...except for final bullet of #4) should be done before class on Monday. Lab reports will be turned in. Also... review packets for unit test will be available. Test this week on Wed (per 3, 6) Thurs/Fri (per 2, 7 depending on college visit).
Tuesday, Oct 1: Covering energy. Wrapping up unit. Discussing first unit test. Working on review packets.
Wed, Oct 2: Unit Test for Per 3 and Per 7. (NOTE: early release day)
Thursday/Friday: (Note: college field trips for jrs on Thurs/Friday). Unit test for period 2 and 7 will be on Thurs (for those on college trips on Fri) and Fri (for those on college trips on Thurs).
NOTE: Assignment due MONDAY, OCT 7 for Chem-I/IA: Read/SSS from Chapter 3, pages 64,65 and do problems pages 96, 97 Numbers 57, 62 and 80.
Chem-II:
Monday: finishing and turning in lab on percent yield of lead iodide. Covering Limiting/Excess Reagents and calculations. Problems will be assigned for Tuesday.
Tuesday: Going over any homework problems. Reviewing for Unit Test (worksheet of sample problems).
Wednesday: Test on Empirical Formula/Molecular Fomula/Stoiciometry/Percent Yield/LR/ER.
Friday: there wll. be a sub (I'll be on jr college trips) . Have your textbooks for in-class work from Chapt 13 that will be due on Monday.
Now.... on to Pats/Falcons game. Go PATS, Go Sox...and, believe it or not, Go Bruins!!!!
