Tuesday: Getting recent "quest" back and going over it. Introducing problem solving using conversion factors. HW will be a worksheet with problems to solve (must SHOW WORK).
Thursday: Going over HW (worksheet). Starting the MOLE CONCEPT. HW: TBD
Chem Advanced (periods 6 and 7:
Wednesday: Reviewing stoich, going over worksheet problems from Friday. Covering the topics of Limiting and Excess Reagents with examples. There will be a "QUEST" on Friday on Stoichiometry.
Friday: Quest on Stoichiometry, including LR and ER. No HW over the weekend.

Long time, no post. It looks like another busy, but sunny, week.
Here goes:
Chem Adv (periods 6 and 7):
Monday: Formal labs due. Introduction to stoichiometry: mole-mole (using mole ratios) and mass-mass. Due Wed will be problems 40 and 42 on page 379.... SHOW ALL WORK. Note that this assignment will also be used to assess your preparation for a lab on Wednesday.
Wednesday: HW due (see above). Covering percent yield. Doing a lab activity. HW for Friday is problem 48 on page 379 (on percent yield).
Friday: Labs finished/due. Continuing with stoichiometry. (mass-vol, vol-vol, LR/ER). Note that there will be a "Quest" next week (Friday???) on EF/MF/Stoich/LR/ER.

Tuesday: going over test from pre-vacation. Starting Oxidation/Reduction ("Redox") rxns. Definitions, examples, assigning oxidation numbers. HW: TBD
Thursday: continuing with Redox with ...... Mr. Adams!!!!

Tuesday: going over quest from pre-vacation. Working on assignment from Chapt 11: Read/SSS 11-1 and do problems numbers 36 through 40 on page 347.
Thursday: Assignment due from Chapt 7 (see above). Introduction to Chemical Reactions, Chemical Equations and Skeleton Equations. HW will be a packet of problems.

It's hard to believe that it is already the fourth quarter. Even though it doesn't feel like summer is fairly close, final exams will be coming fast.
Reminder that Wednesday is a half-day with juniors taking the Science Augmentation tests.

Monday: Finishing and presenting lab on Decomp of CaCO3. Starting Equilibrium. HW for Wednesday is K calculations.
Wednesday: Going over Kc calculations. Covering Kp equation.
Friday: Chem Equilibrium calculations using ICE process. HW TBD. Note that there will be some sort of test next week.

Tuesday: Students should have made tables and graphs from lab results. We will be doing calculations and conclusions from the lab activity in class (to be completed for Thursday if necessary). There will be a reading packet from our next unit (Equilibrium) handed out during class that will be due on Thursday.
Thursday: Reading packet due. Starting unit on Equilibrium rxns. HW for Mon is TBD.
Chem-I (periods 2 and 4):
Tuesday: Assignment from text is due: Read/SSS pages 217 through 225 and do problems #s 7 and 8 on page 220 and # 46 on page 247. We will be going over recent quest and starting the topic of covalent bonding in class. No HW.
Thursday: Continuing covalent bonding, VSEPR, Coordinate covalent bonds and introducing the Polarity. No HW for the weekend.

Monday: Reviewing/Covering Combination and Decomp rxns. Taking a "Quest" on skeleton equ'ns and balancing. HW for Wednesday is to complete the two-sided worksheet on Combination Rxns and Decomp Rxns.
Wednesday: Worksheet due. Covering Single Replacement Rxns and Activitity Series. Homework for Friday will be pre-lab questions.
Friday: Pre-lab questions due. Finish SR rxns (halogen replacement). Starting lab on SR Rxn of Copper Sulfate. HW for Tuesday is to complete the worksheet on SR rxns.

Spring officially arrives on Tuesday at 12:15 PM. It certainly doesn't feel like spring with all the snow and the cold temps!!! Let's hope that we get a complete week and have no more snow days.

Monday: Quiz on Kinetics and Rxn Rates (open notes). Starting a Kinetics Lab.
Wednesday: Continuing on lab.
Friday: Finishing lab. Note that there will probably be an assignment due on Tuesday from our next unit.
Chem-I (periods 2 and 4):
Monday: Reviewing Binary Ionic Compounds. Introducing Ternary Ionic Compounds. In-Class worksheet on TI compounds. HW for Wednesday is Pre-Lab questions from lab on Hydrates.
Wednesday: Pre-Lab questions are due. We will be covering names and formulas for "common" acids. Doing the lab activity on Hydrates. There will be an open note "QUEST" on B.I., T.I, and Acids on Friday. Lab will be turned in on Friday.
Friday: Labs due. Quick review. Quest on Ionic Compounds. Note that there will be an assignment from textbooks due on Tuesday that can be started after the Quest is done.

Hopefully a full, uninterupted week ahead of us, but I'm not betting on it with a potential big snow storm forecast for Wed/Thursday. With that in mind, a reminder that all plans are subject to change and/or adjustments.
AP Chem (per 1):
Monday: finishing procedure for Rate of Rxns lab and starting lab reports (graphing and conclusions). The lab reports will be due on Wednesday.
Wednesday: Lab reports due. Covering Rxn Rate calculations, formulas and problems with examples. There will probably be a quiz on rxn rate problems on Friday.
Friday: finish/review rxn rate problem. Probably quiz.
Chem-I (periods 2 and 4):
Monday: Pre-lab questions are due. Also due is the worksheet on Bond Types, Ions and Ionic Charges. We will review and go over these problems and start the lab. The lab procedure will be finished on Wednesday. No Homework.
Wednesday: Continuing/Finishing lab procedure, including teacher demos of melting times and conductivity tests. Working on conclusion questions (due by end of period or beginning of class on Friday).
