This could be the first FIVE DAY school week that we've had in a LONG time. January coming to an end and the Groundhog looking for his shadow on Friday.
Here are the plans for this week:
AP Chem (per 1):
Monday: Worksheet due on pH problems. Going over problems. Introducing topic of neutralization rxns and titrations. Due Wednesday is a set of problems on those topics. We will also do a titration lab on Wednesday.
Wednesday: Worksheet due on neutralization rxns, normality and titrations. We will be doing a titration lab, probably finishing it on Friday.
Friday: finishing lab. Possibly starting topic of acid-base equilibrium. Any homework will be TBD.
Chem-I (periods 2 and 4):
Monday: Opening activity on Scientific Models. We will start covering the Quantum Mechanical Model. No Hw.
Wednesday: The main topic will be Quantum Numbers and learning to write quantum numbers for general positions of electrons. For Friday, Read/SSS pages 133 to 135.
Friday; Reading/notes from 133 to 135 (3 rules) are due. We will be introducing electron configs with lots of examples. HW for Tues is TBD.
Chem Advanced (periods 6 and 7):
Tuesday: Finishing lab on Ionic vs Covalent Bonding. Introducing Binary Ionic Compounds. No Hw for Thursday.
Thursday: Continuing with Binary Ionic compounds (names/formulas). Also covering Ternary Ionic Compounds. We will be doing lots of examples. Note that we will have a Quest sometime next week. Homework for Monday is Pre-Lab questions for Hydrate lab.
Have a Great Week and Weekend!!! GO PATRIOTS!!!!!

Week of January 23 to Jan 27, 2018
Finally back to regular classes after exams, snow/ice storms/power outage. Believe it or not, after this week is done we will only have 3 weeks before February vacation?
Here's the plan for this very short week:
AP Chem (per 1)
Thursday: Take-home exam is due. We will review acid/base concepts and cover different definitions of acids and bases (Arrhenius, Bronsted-Lowry, Lewis) with emphasis on B-L conjugates. We will then complete the mini-lab on Acids/Bases that we started during exam week. Due on Monday: worksheets on pH/pOH and B-L acids/bases AND read/notes pages 152, 153 and ALL of 17-3.
Chem-I (periods 2 and 4):
Thursday: We will be going over exam. We will then be doing a mini-lab activity on spectroscopy. Due Monday will be Read/SSS on section 5-3 in text and do problems on page 149 numbers 40 through 44.
Chem Advanced (periods 6 and 7)
Friday: PRE-LAB is due. We will be going over the exam. We will then be starting the lab activity on Ionic vs Molecular compounds. Homework for Tuesday is TBA.

Week of January 2 to January 5, 2018
Welcome back! Can you believe this cold weather??? A possible snow storm is shaping up for Thursday and/or Friday which may affect our plans, but here goes for now:
(as always, plans are subject to change)
AP Chem (per 1):
Tuesday: problem packet on colligitive properties is due. We will be completing the Solub of KCl lab activity by sharing data, completing graphs and doing conclusions. If time allows, we will cover colligitive properties.
Thursday: Finishing unit on Solutions. Begin reviewing. Test next week.
Chem-I (periods 2 and 4):
Tuesday: Finishing videos and scoring projects. Due Thursday is a Pre-lab on Flame Tests.
Thursday: Pre-lab is due. Covering "Bohr: Beyond the Basics" and, hopefully, starting the lab activity.
Chem Advanced (periods 6 and 7):
Wednesday: Covering Periodic and Group Trends; electron dot diagrams. Assignment for Friday is to Read/SSS Section 7-1 and complete problems on page 193 numbers 3 thru 10.
Friday: Starting unit on Compounds. Preview. Ionic vs Molecular properties Formation of ions. Homework for Tuesday will be a Pre-lab.
