Next to the last week of classes.  Wow.

As usual, subject to changes and/or adjustments:

Chem-I  (periods 2 and 4):

Wednesday:  Double check that all labs were turned in on Wednesday.   Quick review.  Quiz on Combination/Decomp/Single Replacement Rxns.   Continuing with Rxn Type #4:  Double-Replacement.  Examples/Demos.  Homework will be worksheet on D.R. Rxns.

Friday:  Worksheet Due.  Going over homework or "other stuff".

Chem Advanced (per 6 and 7):

Tuesday:   labs back from last week.   Quick review of Stoich/LR/ER.  TEST.   Due Thursday will be read/SSS 14-1, 14-2 (gas laws) and do problems #39 thru 44 on page 439.

Thursday:  Turning in textbooks.  HW due from 14-1, 14-2.  Going over test.  Starting gas laws.    HW for Monday is TBA.

STEP-UP DAY is Monday.

Week of May 22 to May 26, 2017

Last full week of May!!  Memorial Day weekend coming up.  Just a couple of more weeks until exams.  WOW.

As usual, plans are subject to changes and/or adjustments:

Chem-I (periods 2 and 4):

Monday:  Worksheets on Combination (Synthesis) Rxns and Decomposition Rxns Due.   We will be covering our third type rxn, Single Replacement.  Use of Acitivity Series to predict rxns.  Examples, special cases, etc....   Homework for Wednesday will be worksheet of S.R. Rxns to complete and balance AND pre-lab questions.

Wednesday:  Pre-lab questions due.  Worksheet on SR rxns due.   We will be starting a lab on Percent Copper in a compound, a SR rxn.  Our product (Cu) will be left to dry for Friday.  No HW for Friday.

Friday:  Finishing lab.

Chem Adv (per 6 and 7):

Tuesday:   Worksheet/problems on Limiting/Excess Reagents Due.   We will be doing a lab on percent yield for production of MgO.   This lab will be finished Thursday.  There is the possibility of a "Quest" on stoichiometry on Thursday.

Thursday:  Finishing Labs.  Possible "Quest".

Week of May 15 to May 19, 2017

Last week for our seniors!!!  Short week due to early release/diversity day.  Only NINE more meetings for classes!!!  WOW!!!

As always, plans are subject to change/adjustments:

AP Chem (per 1):

Monday:  Finishing and turning in labs.  Reviewing electrochemistry and Redox.   Take home test handed out (Due by Thurs Morning)

Thursday:  Take-home test is due.  BREAKFAST!!!

Chem-I (periods 2 and 4):

Monday:  Reviewing skeleton equations and balancing.  Taking a "Quest" (open notes allowed).  Due on Thursday:  Read/SSS all of section 11-2 in text and doing problems 44 through 47 on page 347.

Thursday:  HW due (see above).  Going over "Quest".  Starting "Types of Rxns" .  HW due on Tuesday is TBA.

Chem Adv (per 6 and 7):

Tuesday:   Per 6 will be at MUN.   Others will be finishing lab and turning it in.

Friday:  Covering Percent Yield, Limiting/Excess Reagents.  HW for next week TBA.

Week of May 8 to May 12

We are now mid way through the last quarter.  Seniors have two weeks until internships. If only the weather felt more like spring!!

As always, plans are subject to changes and/or adjustments.

AP Chem (per 1):

Tuesday:  Due are the electrochemistry problems on calculating standard cell potentials.  We will be doing a lab on electrolytic cells and voltaic cells.  This lab will likely need to be finished on Thursday.

Thursday:  Finishing lab and turning it in.

Next week we will review the unit on electrochemistry and have a test.  This will likely be a "take home" test.

Chem-I (per 2 and 4):

Tuesday:  Due is the worksheet on Skeleton Equations.  We will be reviewing skeleton equations and symbols.   We will then be going over balancing equations with lots of practice.  Homework for Thursday will be a worksheet of balancing equations.  Also, we will be having a "Quest" on chemical equations (skeleton equ'ns and balanceing) on Thursday OR Monday.

Thursday:  Worksheet on balancing equations due.  We'll either do more balancing or take a Quest.  If the quest is not on Thursday, it will be on Monday.

Chem Advanced (per 6 and 7):

Monday:  going over Mole Test.  Note that there will be a retake for anyone wishing to bring their grade up to 80 %.    Introducing Stoichiometry:  mole-mole and mass-mass.  Note that there will not be a class on Wed due to English AP tests.  Due on Friday will be book problems page 379 numbers 40 and 42 AND reading pre-lab and taking notes.  A lab prep quiz is possible using your notes from the lab packet.

Friday:  Pre-lab (notes) and book problems due.  Doing lab activity on Mole Relationship (mole-mole reaction).

Assignments for Friday and Monday (May 5 and May 7) for periods 2/4 and for periods 6/7

Sorry, sorry, sorry for the lack of posts here.  I had a couple of posts "disappear" due to some glitch.

Here are assignments that are due for Chem-I periods 2 and 4 and for Chem Advanced periods 6 and 7.

Periods 2 and 4:  Due Friday, May 5th:

Read/SSS all of Section 11-1 from text (on chemical reactions) and do problems on page 347 numbers 36 through 40.

For Periods 6 and 7:  Due Monday, May 8th

Watch the video from Bozeman Science on Stoichiometry.  Take notes on Key Concepts (such as Limiting Reagent, Percent Yield, etc...).
