Week of February 23rd to Feb 27th, 2015

Back from vacation.   Tons and tons of snow on the ground.  Only 2 weeks until the return of Daylight Savings Time.   Will we ever have a spring this year?   Of course we will!!!  (just don't know when it will happen).

As always, plans/assignments/due dates are subject to changes and adjustments.

AP Chem (per 1):

Monday:  Chapter 14 packet due.   Reviewing concepts from Chapt 14.  Preparing for test on Chapter 14 (Chemical Kinetics) which will be on Wednesday.

Tuesday:  Continuing review of Kinetics and prepping for test.

Wednesday:  Test on Chemical Kinetics.  

Friday:  plans TBA. 


Chem-I (per 2,3,6): 

Monday:   Assignment due:   SSS from 25-3 and problems p 813 numbers 15 thru 20.   Going over quiz from before vacation (on half-life and transmutation rxns).   Begin covering Nuclear Fission and Fusion/Nuclear Power Production.  HW for Tuesday:  None.

Tuesday:   Continuing with Fission/Fusion/Nuclear Power.   Possibly starting Fukushima video.  HW for Block Day:   Pre-lab from lab on Density as a Group Trend (a "hold-over" lab from previous unit).

Wed/Thurs Block:  Pre-Lab Due.    Doing lab activity on Density as a Group Trend.   Possibly watching more of Fukushima video.  HW for Friday:  TBA (probably none).

Friday:   Finishing Lab Reports/Finishing Fukushima video.

(Plan on having a test next week on the Nuclear Chemistry/Radiation Unit).


Chem-IA (per 7):

Monday:  Assignment due:   SSS from 7-1 and problems page 193 numbers 3 thru 10.   Going over test from Unit 4.   Editorials returned.  Starting Unit 5 on compounds:   Preview.... what do you know?   HW for Tuesday:   none

Tuesday:   covering major characteristics between Ionic and Molecular compounds.  Electronegativity differences and predicting bond types (worksheet???).  HW for Thurs Block:  Pre-lab on I vs C lab activity.

Thursday:   Lab Activity on I vs C compounds.   Probably also covering ion formation and predicting charges.  HW for Friday:  Probably none.

Friday:  Finishing lab activity and report.  Continuing with ion formation and starting binary ionic compounds.
