Monday: Assignment due: SSS from 25-3 and problems p 813 numbers 15 thru 20. Going over quiz from before vacation (on half-life and transmutation rxns). Begin covering Nuclear Fission and Fusion/Nuclear Power Production. HW for Tuesday: None.
Tuesday: Continuing with Fission/Fusion/Nuclear Power. Possibly starting Fukushima video. HW for Block Day: Pre-lab from lab on Density as a Group Trend (a "hold-over" lab from previous unit).
Wed/Thurs Block: Pre-Lab Due. Doing lab activity on Density as a Group Trend. Possibly watching more of Fukushima video. HW for Friday: TBA (probably none).
Friday: Finishing Lab Reports/Finishing Fukushima video.
(Plan on having a test next week on the Nuclear Chemistry/Radiation Unit).

February Vacation Assignment for AP Chemistry (period 1)
While it pains me to do this, time is passing by way too quickly and you need to get some content covered in preparation for the AP exam. Because of this, I am assigning Chapter 14 on Chemical Kinetics for you to cover, take notes, do problems and take a practice test.
Here are link you should follow:
Note pack for you to fill in and refer to while reading each section:
http://moodle.reeths-puffer.org/pluginfile.php/7653/mod_page/content/1/Chp_14_Kinetics/chp%2014/chp_14_notepack.pdf
Powerpoint summary of Chapter (over 100 slides!!!)
http://moodle.reeths-puffer.org/pluginfile.php/7653/mod_page/content/1/Chp_14_Kinetics/chp%2014/chp_14_pp.pdf
Practice Test to be done:

Answers to Practice Test:

PLEASE NOTE that I will be giving a a follow up to the practice test (not my own test) on this chapter on Wednesday, Feb 25th. You will be able to use any book notes, the note pack (link above), and completed practice test (link above and answer key to practice test link above).
Try to spread out the work over several days (maybe an hour or two per day). Refer to other websites as necessary.
I can (almost) feel your pain!

Week before February Vacation: Feb 9 to Feb 13
What a crazy last two weeks we've had with all the snow and, of course, snow days. Not to mention that the forecast for today (Sunday) through Tuesday calls for a potential of 12 more inches!!! Vacation next week, starting with Presidents Day on Monday, Feb 16th, a day to celebrate all presidents but particularly the birthdays of Presidents Washington and Lincoln.
Here we go. It is certainly true that all plans, assignments and due dates are subject to changes and/or adjustments.
NOTE: UPDATED Monday evening after ANOTHER SNOW DAY on Monday!!!
AP Chem (per 1):
Tuesday: Labs due from titration lab (if not already in). Cover acid/base strength as a function of dissociation. Begin review for test on Acids, Bases and Neutralization (to be on Wed).
Wednesday block: Test on Acids/Bases/Neutralization Rxns. After test, assignment from next unit will be handed out. This will be due the Monday after vacation.
Friday: Hopefully going over the test. Working on vacation assignment.
Chem-I (per 2, 3, 6):
Tuesday: Assignment due on alpha and beta decays: problems p 821, numbers 29 thru 32. Going over problems. QUIZ on decays and nuclear stability (open notes allowed). Due Block day: Read/SSS Section 25-2 and do problems page 808 numbers 9 thru 14.
Block Day Wed/Thurs: Assignment from Section 25-2 and problems page 808 numbers 9 thru 14 due. We will go over quiz from Tuesday. Covering half-life concept and solving half-life problems. Also covering transmutation rxns and decay series. Probable quiz on Friday.
Friday: Probable quiz on half-life and transmutations.
Chem-IA (per 7):
Tuesday: Editorial assignments are due. Finishing Manhattan Project. Begin review for Test. Test on Radiation/Nuclear Chem unit will be on Thursday.
Thursday: Test on Chapter 25.
Friday: TBA.
