Sorry about lack of blog for last week. Back to it this week (up through Thanksgiving break). It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and then it will be December, already!!! It was 51 years ago this upcoming Saturday (Nov 22) that JFK was assassinated in Dallas, an infamous date in American history.
As usual, plans are subject to changes and adjustments.
AP Chem (per 1):
Monday: Finishing Chapter 11 with emphasis on effects of vapor pressure on states of matter and mp/bp. Handing out practice test on Chapt 11. Students will work on practice test Monday and Tuesday with Chapter 11 "book test" on Wednesday.
Tuesday: Continuing practice test. Checking against answer key handout.
Wednesday: Test on Chapter 11.
Friday: Tests back and go over. Pre-lab assignment (videos to watch from from catchem links).
Monday, Tuesday: Lab work (or at least messing with Spec 20).
Chem-I (per 2,3,6):
Monday: Quick review of atomic mass calculations. Assigning COW #8: Halogens, Due Friday.
Working on Projects. Note that a project progress check (mainly research collected and ideas for video) will be on block day. For Tuesday: a Sub-Unit Test on 3A/3B including history timeline and basic atomic structure. Timelines, calculators and periodic tables will be allowed; not laptops.
Tuesday: Sub-Unit test on history and basic atomic structure. Due on Block Day: Read/SSS from text section 5-1 and do problems page149 numbers 22 thru 29. Also due on block day is project progress checks.
Block Day: HW due from section 5-1 (see above). Going over sub-unit test. Starting coverage of Unit 3C on models: Thomson thru Bohr. Due Friday will be COW on Halogens and TBA.
Friday: COW due on Halogens. Going over COW. Reviewing early models. Covering "Bohr, Beyond the Basics", the "bridge" from Bohr to the QMM. HW for Monday: TBA (has to do with "alchemy")
Monday Nov 24: A bit of Alchemy.... COW lab activity.
Tuesday Nov 25: Jrs on Job Shadow.
NOTE: Assignment due Monday, Dec 1st: Read/SSS from Section 5-2 pages 133 thru 135 and from 5-3 pages 138, 139 only. Complete problems page 149 numbers #30 thru 32 and #40 thru 45.
Chem-IA (per 7):
Monday: Grading projects. Starting Electron Configurations: What? How? Introducing 3 rules and starting examples. Note: COW due Friday: Halogens.
Tuesday: continuing electron configurations with diagram. Examples. Probable HW: Pre-lab and worksheet.
Thursday: Finishing Unit 3 D on QMM/electron configs and Quantum Numbers. Lab Activity on Spectroscopy. Due Friday: COW on Halogens.
Friday: COW due. Labs due. Probable quiz on 3D. HW for Monday: TBA (has to do with "alchemy")
Monday, Nov 24: A bit of Alchemy.
Tuesday, Nov 25: Jrs on Job Shadow.
NOTE: Assignment for MONDAY, Dec 1st: Read/SSS Section 6-1 and complete problems numbers 24 thru 29 on page 181.
