Week of Sept 29 to Oct 3, 2014 (updated Wed, Oct 1)

What a gorgeous early fall weekend we just had.  It's amazing how the leaves change to beautiful reds, yellows and oranges due to the lack of chlorophyl production that occurs as the day's length shortens and the nighttime temps drop.

It's hard to believe it, but we are now half-way through the first quarter.

As always, assignments and due dates are subject to changes and/or adjustments.

AP Chem (per 1):

Monday:  pass back test and go over.  Book assignment due Tuesday (new text):   Read and "AP"SSS section 10-7, 10-1 and 10-2 (in that order) and do problems page 437 numbers 75 thru 89 odds and page 436 numbers 1 thru 23 odds.

Tuesday:   Assignment from 10-7, 10-1 and 10-2 due.   Starting to cover Kinetic Theory.  In class activity:  "What happened.....".

Wed Block:  continue with Kinetic Theory and relationship to temp and pressure.  Finish "can" activity.  Doing 55 Gallon drum implosion.

Friday:  (with sub)The class has already been given tasks to complete a short (but high quality) video on the concepts of Kinetic Theory, temp, presure, atmospheric pressure and Implosions.  This video will be turned in to Mr. Cat on Tuesday.

Note that on Monday, October 6,  the class will divide up into three groups to produce a demo (either live or video) where they will show one of the three gas laws "in action".  One group will be assigned Boyles Law (pressure-volume relationship),  a second group will be assigned Charles' Law (Temp-Vol relationship), the third group will be assigned Gay-Lussac's Law (aka "the rigid container" law which deals with temp-pressure relationships).    Use of google and youtube is ENCOURAGED.  Final demos (live or video) are due on Wednesday, October 8th.
