Week of October 22 to October 26

I have to admit that these couple of weeks have been tough for me with the altered schedule due to PSATs and the college trips.  I feel like I had to rush the introduction of sig figs to you guys more than I would like..... BUT..... you are still responsible for learning the concepts and skills that we employ in science for recording data and doing calculations with data.

OK.... enough of that.....  Here's the plan for the week ahead (note that this is aimed mainly at my chem-I classes)

I will be driving and chaperoning the college trips on both Monday and Tuesday.  Some of you will be out on Monday, some of you on Tuesday, and some of you not until Monday the 29th.  Please take advantage of the college visits as a means to begin/continue to focus on your post-GHS plans.

You will be required to complete a packet of problems on recording measurements using sig figs, identifying sig figs in data, and doing calculations applying the rules of sig fig.  Please refer to the info and rules on sig figs as covered in the Keynote (slides 15 and 16 I think) as well as our very quick lesson on "the triangle" problem from Friday.

Mrs. Durgin will be subbing for me on both Monday and Tuesday.  She has a very strong understanding of the topic of sig figs and can help you as needed.   I will be leaving answer keys to the problems for you to check your answers.

On Block Day we will be doing a short lab on density calculations where you will be applying all the concepts of recording data correctly, doing calculations correctly and calculating accuracy and precision of your results.

You will be having a skills test (probably a half-test next week (on Tues????) and, possibly a full unit assessment next week, too.

AS FOR CHEM-II:   you will work on your unit presentation on Monday and Tuesday and each group will do their presentaions on Wed during block (13-2, 13-3, 13-4 and 14-1 in that order).
