This is a short week for students as we have early release on Wednesday and Parent Conferences on Friday.
Here's the plan (subject to change and/or adjustments):
AP Chem (period 1):
Monday: MOLE DAY celebration. Working on reading pack for Chapt 11. Pack is due on Wednesday.
Wednesday: Reading pack is due. In-class activity using the pack. Possible lab on Monday of next week.
Chem-I (periods 2 and 4):
Monday: open-note quiz on sections 3-1 and 3-2. After quiz, we will be starting covering topics from Keynote Unit 2. No HW.
Wednesday: Going over the quiz. Continuing Keynote.
Chem Advanced (periods 6 and 7):
Tuesday: Quick review on history of subatomic particles. Covering "basic" atomic structure, isotopes and atomic mass calculations. Some project time will also be given. There will be a "Quest" on History and Structure (open notes) given on Thiursday.
Thursday: "Quest" on history and atomic structure. Working on projects. Note that project script/storyboards are due on Thursday, Nov 2. ASSIGNMENT DUE ON TUES, October 31st: Read/SSS section 5-1 in text and complete problems 22 through 29 on page 149.

Week of Oct 16 to Oct 20, 2017
Already mid-October. Almost one quarter of the year is over.
Junior College trips are scheduled for this week on Tuesday and Wednesday.

AP Chem (per 1):
Tuesday: We will be doing a short activity or two regarding Graham's Law. We will be reviewing for Test on Gas Laws. Test will be Thursday.
Thursday: Test on Gas Laws. There will be a "mole day" assignment that will be due for Monday.
Chem-I (periods 2 and 4):
Tuesday: (half of class will be on college trips, remainder should be working on assignment due on Thursday: read/SSS from 3-1 (pages 64, 65 only) and from 3-2 (all); also do problems on pages 96, 97 numbers 57, 62 thru 66 and 80.
Thursday: Assignment from 3-1, 3-2 due (see above). Going over Test. Starting new unit. HW: probably quiz on Monday from 3-1 and 3-2 and class notes.
Chem Advanced (periods 6 and 7):
Monday: Review timeline 3-A (espec Dalton). Covering 3-B and continuing timeline. There will be approx 30 min given for project work. Note that project research will be graded on Friday.
Wednesday: (half of class will be on college trips). Students not on college trips can be working on project research.
Friday: We will finish 3-B and, perhaps, 3-C. Project research will be graded. HW for next Tuesday is TBA.

Wednesday: Charles Law lab is due. Working on Ideal Gas Law lab ("Bic" lab).
Friday: Finishing Bic lab and turned in. Covering Graham's Law with examples. Note that there will be a test next week (Thurs?) on Gas Laws.
Chem-I (periods 2 and 4):
Wednesday: PSATS will be taking place during periods 1,2,3 on this day. Per 4 will be completing lab reports and reviewing for test.
Friday: Test on Unit One. Note that there may be an assignment. Note that there may be an assignment due next week. Also note that approx half of jrs will be on College visits on Tuesday and the other half will be on trips on Wednesday of next week.
Chem Adv (periods 6 and 7):
Tuesday: Assignment from Sections 4-1 and 4-2 is due. We will be taking the sig fig "Quest". We will be starting the new Unit on the Atom (intro video, video questions, starting unit 3A Keynote). HW for Thursday: Read link regarding Alchemy

A four day school week followed by a four day weekend!!!

Tues: Problems on Gas Laws that were handed out during Friday's presentations will be due. We will be starting a lab activity on Charles Law. HW for Thurs is TBA.
Thurs: Finishing lab. Continuing with gas laws. (we will be doing another lab next week).
Chem-I (per 2 and per 4):
Tues: We will be continuing with the Prop and Changes lab procedure and starting the lab conclusion questions. No HW for Thurs as we still will be working on/completing lab.
Thurs: Lab procedure finished. Working on conclusion questions. We will be reviewing for Unit Test: HW: Review packet. (Note: the test will be next week on Friday and not Wed due to PSATs).
Test info:
When: Fri, Oct 13
What to review: mainly review Keynote Unit One, any class notes, your labs (Candle Lab and P&C lab) and lab safety (see essay info below)
Test format:
T/F, M.C., Matching, problems, short answer, and essays (note that there will be two essays: using scientific method to solve a common problem, and describing how to take care of a multi-faceted lab accident). Test will be 50 pts.
Chem-Adv (per 6 and per 7):
Mon: problem packet due from last Thurs (from the sub) and, also, the packet with with the "triangle problem". We will be reviewing sig figs concentrating on calculations with measurements. We will also be starting a "mini-lab" on Density Determination. The lab will be finished on Wed. There will also be a "Quest" (big quiz) on Wed on Sig Figs.
Wed: Finishing lab and conclusions. Taking a "Quest" on sig figs. (UPDATE: Quest will be on TUESDAY of next week... and it will be open note) Assignment for next Tuesday: Read/SSS section 4-1 and 4-2 (on history of Atom and basic atomic structure) and do problems page 122, numbers 34 through 45.
