Week of Sept 11 to Sept 15, 2017
Our thoughts are with those in Florida and Texas as they deal with the terrible effects of hurricanes. Sept 11th is also a day to remember the thousands that died in the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks in 2001.
As always, plans are subject to changes and/or adjustments.
AP Chem (per 1):
Monday: We will be finishing and turning in the Emp Formula lab. A new review program that was just purchased from Flinn Scientific will be introduced and log ins will be established. We will use the unit on stoichiometry to review this topic. Assignment for Wednesday will be determined.
Wednesday: Continuing with Stoich: L.R./E.R./percent yield will all be covered (mainly as review). For Friday, you will be developing a lab procedure to determine LR/ER/Percent Yield for a Single-Replacement Rxn.
Friday: You will run the lab rxn and do analysis of results. (Next week there will be a test on Emp Formula/Molec Formula and Stoich)
Chem-I (periods 2 and 4):
Monday: Covering topics from Unit One on Keynote. Reviewing lab equipment. Lab Safety Test. For homework, you will be describing (in writing) a common scenario where the Scientific Method is used in your everyday life.
Wednesday: Scenario Due. We'll be going over the lab safety/equipment test and continuing with Unit One topics on Keynote. We will also be introducing Lab Report Format and Scoring. Due Friday will be a pre-lab.
Friday: Pre-lab due. Starting Lab Activity (Candle Lab).
Chem Advanced (periods 6 and 7):
Tuesday: Due is your written scenario where Sci Method is used. We will be doing a quick review of some more topics from Unit One and review of lab Safety. (see link below for Test Info). A review packet will be given out to be done (in class?). There will be a test on Unit One (summer work) and lab safety on Thursday.
Thursday: Before test is taken, I will be describing lab report format, scoring and pre-lab assignment. Test will be done. For homework (can start after test is complete) you will have a pre-lab assignment due on Monday.
