Final week of the third quarter.  Only two weeks until April Vacation.  If we're so close to "summah", why is it so cold and wet out?  It must be Maine!!!

As always, plans and due dates are subject to change.

AP Chem (per 1):

Tuesday:  hmmm.   I should give a huge unannounced exam today, but I won't.  The reading packets from Chapt 15 are due.  The lab reports on the Rxn Rate activity are due BY THE END OF THE DAY.   We will be covering Equilibrium Rxns and some formulas.  You will have some problems to do for HW>

Thursday:  Continuing coverage of Chapt 15 with "stress" on LeChatellier's Principle.   Note that the pun is intended.  Do you know why?   We may also be starting a lab during last part of class.  HW for Monday is TBA.

Chem-I (per 2 and 4):

Tuesday:  Labs on Hydrate will be turned in.  We will be covering Ternary Ionic Compounds/Polyatomic Ions and formulas for Acids and Bases in class with worksheets to do.  NOTE that there will be a SubUnit Test on the Ionic Compounds on Thursday.

Thursday:   Reviewing compounds.  SubUnit Test/"Quest" (open notes).   After Test, students will be starting to work on an assignment in textbook.  DUE MONDAY:   read and do SSS on pages 217 tp 225 in text (on covalent bonding).  Do problems #7 and 8 on page 220 AND # 46 on page 247.

Chem Advanced (per 6 and 7):

Monday:   Test on Chemical Rxns.   After test, the students will  work on the following textbook assignment which will be due on Wednesday:   Read/SSS Section 10-1 and do problems 47 through 50 on page 315.

Wednesday:  Assignment from 10-1 due (see above).  Tests back and go over.  Reviewing "problem solving" with conversion factors/factor-label method.  Introduction to the MOLE concept.  HW for Friday is TBA.

Friday:  Continuing with the MOLE.   HW for Monday is TBA.

Week of March 20 to March 24, 2017

Spring officially starts on Monday, March 20th.   Now if we could just get all this snow to melt!!!   Believe it or not, there are only two weeks left in the 3rd quarter!!!  Wow.

As alway, plans and due dates are subject to change.

AP Chem (per 1):

Monday:  continuing with Rxn Rate lab.  Running 2nd trial.  Sharing data.  Working on graphs. We will be finishing and turning in lab on Wednesday.  Reading/questions packet from Chapt 15 on Equilibrium will be due on Friday.

Wednesday:  finishing lab.  Working on Chapt 15 packet.

Friday:  Chapt 15 packet due.  Starting to cover Equilibrium.  Kc, Ke, LeChatellier, etc.....  Homework is TBA.

Chem-I  (periods 2 and 4):

Monday:  Reviewing ion formation, ionic charges.  Covering Binary Ionic Compounds.  Due Wednesday will be the worksheet problems on names and formulas for B.I. Compounds.  Probably Quiz on Wednesday, too

Wednesday:  Worksheet on BI compounds due (odds plus "marked" problems).   Probably a quiz.  Covering Ternary Ionic compounds and polyatomic ions.  Homework for Friday is Worksheet on T.I. compounds AND there is a Pre-Lab due on Friday, too.

Friday:  Worksheet on TI compounds due.  Pre-Lab questions due.  Lab Activity on Composition of a Hydrate.   HW for Tues is TBA.

Chem Advanced (per 6 and 7):

Tuesday:  Finishing lab on Percent Copper.  Final Observations and Calculations.  Comparing results.   Labs due by end of class.   HW is TBA.

Thursday:   Finishing unit on Rxns:  Double Replacement and Combustion Rxns.  Starting to Review.  Test will be either Monday or Wednesday of next week.

Week of March 6 to March 12, 2017

Believe it or not, this is the last week of Standard Time.  We "spring forward" next weekend, turning the clocks ahead.  At least it will feel a bit more like summer.

As alway, plans are subject to changes and/or adjustments.  (UPDATE:  Mr Cat was out ill on Monday, therefore plans HAVE changed).

AP Chemistry (per 1):

Monday;  Continuing with lab on Factors and turning it in.  For Wednesday, watch and take notes on the Khan Academy video series on reaction rates and kinetics.  Covering rxn rate formulas and rate laws with probably problems to be solved.

Wednesday:  Going over rxn rate formulas, rate laws and rxn orders with various problems.

Friday:  Possible quiz.  May also be starting a lab.

Chem-I (per 2 and 4):

Monday:  Worksheet on bond types due  Pre-lab questions are also due.  We will review bond types, and  electronegativity and start the lab on Ionic vs Covalent Compounds.   The lab will be completed on Wednesday.  No HW for Wednesday.  Due Wednesday is the book assignment given by Mr. Adams.

Wednesday:  We will review bond types, and  electronegativity and start the lab on Ionic vs Covalent Compounds.   The lab will be completed on Friday.  No HW for Friday..Completing the lab and turning it in.  If time allows, we will start covering formation of ions and predicting ionice charges.  HW for Friday:  NONE.  We will be finishing lab procedure and working on conclusion questions.

Friday:  Completing the lab and turning it in.  If time allows, we will start covering formation of ions and predicting ionice charges. HW for Tues TBA

Chem Advanced (periods 6 and 7):

Tuesday:  Due is Reading page 302 and doing "practice problems" numbers 13, 14, 15, 16 on pages 331 and 332.  We will do a quick review of skeleton equations and balancing equations and then have a "Quest".  If time allows, we will be starting to cover Combination and Decomposition Rxns.  HW for Thursday is TBA.   No HW for Thursday
