Week of May 16 to May 20

We are really starting to head down the home stretch for the school year.  You guys need to stay focused and end the year strong.

As always, plans and due dates are subject to change and/or adjustments:

AP Chem (per 1):  working on Environmental Issues project.  Due Wednesday.

Chem-I (Per 4 and 6):

Monday:  finishing unit on Chem Rxns.  Covering Combustion rxns.  Starting review.  Test will be on block day.

Tuesday:  Continuing to review.  Test on Block Day.

Wed/Thurs block:  Test on Chem Rxns unit.   Introducing problem solving skills/conversion factors.

Here are the problems:
Problems for Homework(use “factor-label” method to show work and circle answers.
1.  How many hours are in 3 weeks?
2.  How many minutes are there in the month of May?
3.  How many decades are there in 1,104,500,000 seconds?
4.  A military jet can travel at 2.5 times the speed of sound.   Calculate the jet’s speed in miles per hour if the speed of sound is 340 meters per second.   (need to know how many meters in a mile).
5a.   How many hours have you been alive (to nearest birthday)?
5b.  How many hours has Mr. Cat been alive?

Friday:  Probable Quiz on Problem Solving and Conversion Factors.

Chem-I Advanced (per 2 and 7):

Monday:  Test on Mole Calculations (open notes allowed).

Tuesday:  Tests back, introduce lab.  Due Thurs Block will be Pre-lab.

Thursday block:  Pre-lab due.  Lab Activity.

Friday:  Finishing lab/starting final unit.
