As always, plans and due dates are subject to changes and/or adjustments.

AP Chem (per 1):   plain and (not-so) simple:   preparing for AP Exam with practice, practice, practice.

Chem-I (per 4 and 6):

Monday:   Tests back on compounds (who still needs to make it up?).   Assignment due on Tuesday:  Read/SSS section 11-1 and do problems on page 347 numbers 36 through 40.

Tuesday:  Assignment from 11-1 due.  Starting Unit on Chemical Rxns.   Terms and such....  HW:  TBA (probably none).

Block Day:   Continuing with skeleton equations, several demos.   Probably starting to go over techniques of balancing equations.   HW:  TBA.

Friday:  possibly a SubUnit test (it will either be on Friday or on Monday).

Chem-I Adv (per 2 and 7):

Monday:   Tests back on chemical equations (several folks need to make it up due to absences before vacation).  Getting final observations and measurements from "%Cu" lab.   NOTE:  assignment due on Thursday (per 2 will be in testing on Tuesday).  (see below)

Tuesday: (per 2 in testing)  per 7:  finishing lab and working on Assignment due on Thursday:  Read/SSS section 10-1 and do problems page 315 numbers 47 thru 50.

Thursday Block:   Assignment from 10-1 due.   Per 2 will be finishing lab.  Introducing/reviewing simple (and "complex") conversions.  Introducing the mole concept.  HW for Friday:  TBA (none?)

Friday:  Continuing with mole concept.  Possibly starting a "mini-lab" activity.

Week of April 4 to April 8, 2016

Who turned off spring?   Cold out there as I type this on Sunday night.  Hard to believe it's April.  Two weeks until vacation.  Early release day this Wednesday.

As always, plans and assignments are subject to changes and/or adjustments.

AP Chem (per 1):

Monday:   going over quiz from Friday on Net Ionic Equ'ns and Redox.  Covering Electrochemical Cells (Keynote) and working on problems.   Homework for Tuesday will be calculations for solutions for lab.

Tuesday:   Going over Cell Potential problems.  Making solutions for lab.  (Possibly starting lab)

Wed:  short period:  TBA

Friday block:  continuing and finishing lab.

Chem-I:  (periods 4 and 6):

Monday:  review polar/non-polar.   Worksheet #2 on Polarity.  "Like Dissolves Like".  HW:  TBA (none?)

Tuesday:   Covering intermolecular forces with demos.   HW for Wed:  Quiz.

Wed (short period):  Quiz on covalent bonding, VSEPR, Polarity, Like Dissolves like.  Assignment for block:  Read/SSS (no problems) pages 240 thru 243, 268 thru 270, 693 thru 695.

Friday:  Finishing topics from Compounds Unit:   names and formulas for Binary Molecular Compounds, organic alkanes, benzene.   Begin Review.  Test next week on block day.

Chem-I Advanced:  (periods 2 and 7):

Monday:  HW due from 11-2 and problems (see last Friday's blog).   Going over SubUnit Test.  Begin covering "Types of Reactions":  Combination and Decomposition Rxns.  Homework:  problems page 347 numbers 45 and 47.

Tuesday:   Going over HW.   Topics:   Single-Replacement Reactions, Activity Series of Metals.  Examples.   HW:  TBA.  Quiz on Wednesday.  Lab on Block Day.

Wed (short periods):  Quiz on Combination, Decompositon and Single-Replacement Rxns.  HW for Thursday:  Pre-Lab problems.

Thursday block:   Pre-lab due.  Going over quiz.   Lab Activity.   Lab will be finished on Monday after product has dried.
