Return from vacation and changing the calendar from April to May. You'd think the weather would be much warmer, but....
Notice that I have lots of TBA for homework, so keep an eye on assignments that will "happen when they happen" during the week.
Chem-I (per 2,3,6):
Monday: Return of lab on hydrates. Going over quiz on binary ionic compounds from before vacation. Starting ternary ionic compounds and polyatomic ions. HW: TBA
Tuesday: continuing with ternary ionic compounds and, probably, starting names/formulas for acids. Right now the plan is for a sub-unit test on ionic compounds on block day.
Block day: finishing ionic compounds/review; Sub-Unit test. Bring textbooks for work to be done after the sub-unit test is done. HW: Read/SSS Section 8-2 in text. Do problems 13 through 21 on page 229.
Friday: going over sub-unit test. Starting Molectular compounds.
Chem-IA (per 7):
Monday: Starting molecular compounds (second half of our current unit). Properties, covalent bonding, diatomic molecules, coordinate covalent bonding, VSEPR. HW is TBA (None)
Tuesday: continuing with above concepts. Making molecules. Starting concept of Polarity. HW: finish worksheet on drawing molecules (if not finished during class time).
Thursday: Finishing basics of molecular compounds and polarity. "like dissolves like". Intermolecular forces. (note: no lab activity this week).
Friday: probable quiz on concepts from this week.
